With over 24 years experience as a trial lawyer, John R. Moritz is one of
West Michigan's most well-known and respected figures in criminal, family, and
personal injury law.
Mr. Moritz received his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School
in 1982 and became a member of the Michigan State Bar the same year. He is
admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Michigan, United States District
Court, and Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Moritz earned his
undergraduate degree from Alma College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in
English degree in 1978. Mr. Moritz also attended the University of Maryland's
European Campus in Frankfurt Germany and the U.S. Army Signal School in Fort
Gordon, Georgia.
Before starting his private practice, the Law Office of John R. Moritz, in
2004, Mr. Moritz practiced law at highly regarded firms in Holland, Michigan,
including Moritz & Verde, P.C. (1998-2004), Swaney, Thomas & Moritz
(1985-1998), and Giddy & Associates (1983-1985).
Mr. Moritz's other public service experience includes working as a law clerk
for Honorable Thomas Brown in Ingham County Circuit Court and Honorable James
E. Townsend and Calvin L. Bosman in Ottawa County Circuit Court. He has also
served as a legislative aid to State Representative Mary Brown. Earning a
Certificate of Achievement, Mr. Moritz served in the United States Military,
Third Army Division from 1974-1976 before receiving an Honorable
Discharge.

Ms. Baum received her Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University School
of Law in 2001 and became a member of the Michigan State Bar the same year.
She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Michigan and the United
States District Court. Ms. Baum earned her undergraduate degree from Hope
College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1998.
Before starting in private practice at the Law Office of John R. Moritz in 2007,
Ms. Baum practiced law at Legal Aid of Western Michigan in St. Joseph,
Michigan.
